KCFIS User Guide
Welcome to the Kenya Climate Finance Information System (KCFIS) user guide. KCFIS is the central platform used by The National Treasury and reporting entities to collect, validate, approve, and report climate finance data for Kenya's Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) and related obligations.
This guide is written for end users: focal points, reviewers, administrators, and any staff who will work with KCFIS day to day. It is task oriented: each chapter explains why a screen exists, how to use it step by step, and what to expect afterwards.
Who this guide is for
KCFIS supports four user roles. Most chapters apply to everyone, but some sections are role specific and clearly marked.
| Role | Typical responsibilities |
|---|---|
| Submitter | Uploads BTR data for an entity; fixes validation errors; sends submissions for review. |
| Reviewer | Reviews submissions from their entity; approves or rejects them before they go to admin. |
| Administrator | Final approver; manages users and entities; finalizes submissions and generates reports. |
| User | Read-only access to permitted screens. |
If you do not know your role, open the sidebar in KCFIS — your role is shown under your name in the bottom-left corner.
How to use this guide

- Returning users: use the search box (top right) or jump straight to the chapter that matches the screen you are on.
- Trainers and support staff: the Role-based quick paths chapter is a printable cheat sheet.
