Logging in
Purpose
The login screen authenticates you against KCFIS. Once signed in, your access is determined by the role assigned to your account (Submitter, Reviewer, Administrator, or User).
Before you start
You will need:
- The public URL of KCFIS provided by your administrator (for example,
https://cfis.example.go.ke). - The email address registered for your account.
- Your password. If your account was created by an administrator, you may have been given a temporary password and asked to change it on first login (see Forced password change).
Step-by-step
- Open KCFIS in your browser. You are sent to the Sign in to CFIS screen.
- In the Email Address field, enter the email associated with your account.
- In the Password field, enter your password. Click the eye icon on the right of the field to reveal what you have typed if you need to confirm it.
- Click Sign In.
You are signed in and KCFIS opens on the Dashboard (the home page). Your name and role are visible in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.
If KCFIS is asking you to change your password, follow the Forced password change procedure first.
If you forgot your password
Click Forgot Password? above the password field. KCFIS will guide you through emailing yourself a one-time reset code. See Resetting your password.
If you do not have an account
Click Sign up at the bottom of the screen to create one — see Registering an account.
If your organisation has disabled self-registration, contact your administrator instead. They will create the account for you (see User Management).
Common errors
| You see | Most likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Login Failed with "Invalid credentials" | Wrong email or password | Re-check the email; click Forgot Password? if needed. |
| Login Failed with a server error | Backend is unreachable | Wait a minute and retry. If it persists, contact Support. |
| Session Expired banner at the top of the screen | Your previous session timed out | Sign in again. KCFIS preserves the page you were on if it can. |
