Sidebar and layout
Purpose
Every KCFIS screen uses the same shell: a sidebar on the left for navigation and a main content area on the right. Once you know the shell, every screen behaves the same.
The shell, top to bottom
The sidebar contains, from top to bottom:
- KCFIS branding — the Kenya coat of arms, the system name, and the line Kenya Climate Finance.
- Collapse toggle — a small button on the right edge of the sidebar that collapses it to icons only. Useful on smaller screens. KCFIS remembers your choice across sessions.
- Primary navigation — see Primary navigation menu.
- Your account block — your initials, your name, and your role (for example, Submitter, Reviewer, Administrator).
- Support — opens the Support screen.
- Logout — signs you out and returns to the login page.
The main content area scrolls independently of the sidebar.
Tips
- The active screen is highlighted in teal in the sidebar. If you are unsure which screen you are on, glance at the sidebar.
- The collapse toggle is helpful when working with the wide submission grid; collapsing the sidebar gives the grid more horizontal room.
- When the sidebar is collapsed, hover over an icon to see its label as a tooltip.
Identifying your role
Your role appears in the bottom-left corner under your name. The display name maps to the internal role as follows:

| Administrator | ADMIN | Everything, including final approvals, user management, and entity settings. |
| Submitter | SUBMITTER | Create and submit data for your entity. |
| Reviewer | REVIEWER | Approve or reject submissions from your entity before they reach an admin. |
| User | USER | Read-only access to most screens. |
