BTR Template reference
Purpose
This page mirrors the BTR Template User Guide that KCFIS displays at the bottom of the Support screen. Use it offline (in the PDF) or when filling the template in your spreadsheet tool.
Column definitions

Project_ID | Unique identifier for the project. |
Reporting_Year | The year for which the data is being reported. |
Project_Title | Name or title of the project. |
Project_Description | Brief description of activities and objectives. |
Project_Timeframe | Duration or timeline. |
Amount_Committed_USD | Total committed amount in US Dollars. |
Amount_Committed_KES | Total committed amount in Kenyan Shillings. |
Actual_Expenditure (KES) | Actual amount disbursed in KES. |
Financial_Instrument | See Financial_Instrument options. |
Climate_component | Percentage of project that is climate-related. |
Climate_Use | See Climate_Use options. |
Climate_Marker_Mitigation | 0, 1, or 2 — see Climate marker options. |
Climate_Marker_Adaptation | 0, 1, or 2 — see Climate marker options. |
Climate_Marker_Cross-cutting | 0, 1, or 2 — see Climate marker options. |
NCCAP_Sector | See NCCAP_Sector options. |
Climate_Subsector | More specific subsector classification within the NCCAP sector. |

Climate marker options

- 0 — Not climate-related.
- 1 — Significant climate objective (significant but not principal).
- 2 — Principal climate objective.

Currency conversion
The template includes automatic currency conversion between USD and KES.
- Current placeholder rate: 1 USD = 128.84 KES (1 KES = 0.0078 USD).
- The
Amount_Committed_USDandAmount_Committed_KEScolumns are linked with conversion formulas. - Enter a value in either column; the other will be calculated automatically.
- If both are filled manually, KCFIS keeps your entries as-is.
Placeholder rate
The exchange rate above is a placeholder and will be updated to a treasury-specific averaged value. Always check the value embedded in the latest template.
Assumptions
- Reporting period is calendar or fiscal year as specified.
- All financial amounts are entered as positive numbers.
- Climate markers (0, 1, 2) reflect the principal climate objective.
- Data is entered for completed projects or projects with committed funds.
Methodologies
Data collection
- Collect data from project documentation, financial records, and reporting systems.
- Cross-reference with primary and secondary data sources.
Climate classification
- Use climate markers to indicate the climate relevance of each project.
- Mark 2 (principal) only when climate is the main purpose.
- Use 1 (significant) when climate is important but not primary.
Financial reporting
- Report amounts in the currency specified (USD or KES).
- Use actual expenditure for completed projects.
- Use committed amounts for ongoing or planned projects.
Sector classification
- Classify according to NCCAP sector categories.
- Use
